Samsung released the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ on April 21. Ever since then, these new flagship devices from one of the world's most popular smartphone manufacturers have been topping the charts in form and functionality.
Immediately evident are the seamless curves of the Galaxy S8. The "Infinity Screen" is quite literally all screen and no bezel, which truly lets the HD+ Super AMOLED display "speak" for itself. But even more impressive than the edgeless design are perhaps the hardware elements within the device, which really handle some heavy technological lifting.
The battery life of the Samsung Galaxy S8 series blows other models out of the water, with a 3000 mAh cell providing up to 16 hours of video playback and 20 hours talk time on the Galaxy S8, and a 3500 mAh battery lending up to 18 hours of video playback and 24 hours of talk time on the Galaxy S8+. Using a 4G connection, the S8 and S8+ can browse the web for up to 12 and 15 hours, respectively, on a single charge.
Both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ feature 12 Megapixel rear cameras with VDIS (Video Digital Image Stabilization), HDR (High Dynamic Range), and selective focus (Bokeh effect) for shutterbug enthusiasts, along with editing and customization features only the Android operating system offers. The front facing cameras on each model capture an 8 Megapixel wide angle image. And autofocus is available no matter which direction you;re pointing.
The Galaxy S8 series, like previous models, is wireless charge and fast charging (both wired and wireless) compatible.
You can find the Galaxy S8 and S8+ in five unique hues: Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Coral Blue, Arctic Silver, and Maple Gold, a welcome and colorful expansion over the previous choices of white, gold, black, or silver.
We can't say enough about how much this improves the S8 experience. Whether it's the 5.8" Galaxy S8 screen or the S8+'s generous 6.2", there is literally no non-touchscreen real estate to be found on the front of the phone. The 2960x1440 Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display. And with an IP68-rating, the S8 series can resist up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are released with the crisp and efficient Android 7.0 Nougat operating system installed.
Move over Siri and Google Assistant, Bixby is the answer to all your Android-based inquiries. Galaxy S8 users can make the most of Bixby even without saying a word. According to Samsung, "you can use voice, text, or touch to say what you need since it understands all three. When you're lost for words, open the camera and Bixby will search for you."
The front facing 8MP camera on the Galaxy S8 series makes the iris scanning function all the more accurate. By using the unique colored area of your eyes as a "password," your device and data can be kept safe and secure.
Both the Galaxy S8 and S8+ feature powerful and discrete Octa-Core Quad processors, with a 2.3GHz and 1.7GHz pair on the S8, and a more robust 2.35GHz and 1.9GHz set on the S8+. These are the first 10 nm, 64-bit processors to ever be integrated into a smartphone, and along with 4GB of internal ram, should provide the devices with incredible speed and efficiency.
The standard Galaxy S8 and S8+ models come with a single Nano SIM card slot and a single MicroSD card slot, compatible with up to 256GB MicroSD cards. Dual Nano SIM card slot models are also available, with one of the Nano SIM slots working double duty as a MicroSD slot as well.
