The original Microsoft Xbox video game console was released in 2001, and competed with the Playstation 2 and the Nintendo GameCube. It sits horizontally, and has a large “x” molded into the top of the console. The power button and controller ports are all on the front, however. It was the first time an American company offered a gaming console since 1996. The controllers for the Xbox have had several revisions. The original Xbox controller featured two analog sticks, a pressure-sensitive directional pad, two analog triggers, a Back button, a Start button, two accessory slots and six 8-bit analog action buttons (A/Green, B/Red, X/Blue, Y/Yellow, and Black and White buttons).
